Sean A. Espley and Joseph G. Merydith are both certified forensic document examiners with the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners (ABFDE). The ABFDE aims to ensure that anyone who claims to be a forensic document examiner possesses the necessary skills, qualifications, and training.

Both examiners were trained and worked in a laboratory system that is accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD). Mr. Espley and Mr. Merydith have also been proficiency tested multiple times by an outside vendor. Both examiners have examined documents in high profile cases such as the Zodiac, Scott Peterson, Anna Nicole Smith, and many others.
