Sean Espley
Sean Espley has over 20 years of experience as a Forensic Document Examiner with the California Department of Justice. Mr. Espley has examined documents and issued opinions in many high-profile cases to include the Zodiac, Yosemite killings (Cary Stayner), Scott Peterson, and others. He has examined over 1,000 cases in both criminal and civil cases. Mr. Espley has qualified as an expert and testified in Municipal, Superior, and Federal courts throughout California and Nevada.
In addition to his experience as a Forensic Document Examiner, Mr. Espley is a Certified Technical Assessor for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD). He has conducted numerous inspections for ASCLD throughout the United States. Mr. Espley serves on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Forensic Document Examiners (ABFDE).
Mr. Espley was recently a Senior Forensic Advisor for the United States Department of Justice – International Crime Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) in Mexico. Mr. Espley was with ICITAP for 3 years and worked with the Secretaria de Seguridad Publica (SSP) and the Procuradura General de la Republica (PGR). He helped provide training, quality assurance, and assisting in the development of policy and technical procedures.
